Greg started his career as a senior lecturer in Management Accounting at the University of Pretoria. He lectured honours-level graduates for 5 years. During this time, Greg presented numerous courses to the public and private sectors.

In 1995 Greg founded Cortell Consulting (Pty) Ltd.

Greg steered Cortell toward being the largest implementation partner in Financial Performance Management for IBM Cognos TM1 in South Africa, winning the Partner Sales excellence award from IBM.

During his career, Greg has implemented several large Financial Performance Management projects for Budgeting and Forecasting, Activity-Based Costing, and Transfer Pricing, to several large listed institutions, including national airlines, banks, hospitality, FMCG, insurance, mining, and the petro-chemical industries.

Greg has written several articles relating to the Business Intelligence field and presented on this topic both locally and overseas.

Max spent 22 years in the design & implementation of Business Intelligence and Financial Performance Management systems.
MASSIMO OTTAVINI

Technical Director: Cortell Business Solutions

Qualifications: BSC (COMPUTER SCIENCE)

After completing his studies in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics, Max spent 22 years in the design and implementation of Business Intelligence and Financial Performance Management systems. Using his experience and expertise, Max has enabled organisations to realise optimal data from their data environments, and also aids in facilitating information lead decision making.

Max has designed and implemented solutions for Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Consolidation, Profitability Models, Activity-Based Costing, and Transfer Pricing for many large listed organisations in various industries. In 2001, Max developed a shared services solution called Transparent, which is still managed today in the banking and insurance industries.

Max was appointed as a director and shareholder of Cortell in 2003, and, over the last 11 years, has provided service to Cortell as the technical director. Max and his team have designed and implemented Performance Management projects for SME and large corporations in many industries, including national airlines, banks, FMCG, hospitality, insurance and the petro-chemical industry.

Max has been invited to present on various reporting models both locally and internationally to other IBM partners and has taken part in specialised technical training.

David started his career with a ten year stretch at the East Asiatic Company of Denmark.
DAVID MCWILLIAM

Director: Cortell Business Solutions

Qualifications: BCom

David started his career with a ten year stretch at the East Asiatic Company of Denmark in various positions, after being nominated to participate in a worldwide management development program. He then spent eight years doing strategic planning and general management for the Sun International group, before launching his own business, which he sold after seven years.

David has spent the past fifteen years as a significant shareholder and director of several successful companies operating in the Southern African information technology industry. For five years of this period, until April 2010, he held the position of Territory Manager for the Sub-Saharan operations of Cognos Incorporated. During his time in this position, revenues from this territory grew at an annual compound rate of +20%.

David has been a shareholder and director of ProSol Group since 1992, and held an executive role from May 2010, until he joined forces with Cortell, where he assists with Marketing and Sales portfolio. He also acts as an experienced ambassador and client advisor for the company.

Edna has a career that spans over 18 years in the communications sector.
Edna Kimurwa

Edna has a career that spans over 18 years in the communications sector. Edna began her career as a Telecommunications Engineer in Kenya. She then joined a satellite operator to open up the west and central African Markets. She later joined Oracle handling technology products. Before joining Cortell, Edna held the position of Sales Director- Africa with a global Satellite company. She has a vast experience in business development, marketing and management.

Edna is also a Chartered Marketer (UK).

Catherine Mitchem

Since completing her studies in biochemistry in the U.S., Catherine’s over 20 years’ professional experience has been earned in the U.S., Middle-East, Kenya and elsewhere in Africa, and spans technology, finance and biotechnology. For the last 12 years, Ms. Mitchem has concentrated on areas related to information technology and information security, co-founding a Washington D.C. based cybersecurity service provider, and engaging in various initiatives to bring business enabling technology solutions to the African market.
